At Court House Farm, the gardens are not just a beautiful backdrop—they are at the heart of everything we do. From the flower farm dream to our creative retreats, the lush gardens at Court House Farm are an essential part of the experience, offering beauty, inspiration, and a tranquil setting for all who visit.
When Helen first envisioned Court House Farm as a creative sanctuary, she knew the gardens would be a central element. Though our flower farm dream didn’t quite evolve as planned, it has blossomed into something special, with our cut flower gardens continuing to inspire guests and provide a serene setting for our events and workshops.
The Flower Farm Dream: Cultivating Beauty and Inspiration
Before the pandemic, Helen envisioned creating a flower farm at Court House Farm. The idea was to offer visitors the opportunity to experience the joy of picking their own flowers, surrounded by vibrant blooms like roses, dahlias, sweet peas, and tulips. But when COVID-19 hit, we pivoted and introduced the Flower Shed, a charming little pop-up shop at the entrance to Court House Farm, offering fresh cut flowers to the community. This offering quickly became a local favourite, with residents coming to pick up seasonal flowers directly from the farm.
While the flower farm dream didn’t fully take off as we initially envisioned, the spirit of the garden still thrives. Today, the flower beds continue to bloom, offering an ever-changing tapestry of flowers that play an integral role in our creative retreats, events and stays. These vibrant blooms serve as both inspiration and decoration, adding beauty and warmth to our gatherings.
Creative Retreats and the Role of the Gardens
One of the most magical aspects of Court House Farm is how the gardens seamlessly tie into our creative retreats. The flowers and plants that surround the farmstead are not just for show—they actively inspire the creative process. Whether it’s the roses in full bloom or the abundant dahlias at the height of summer, the gardens offer a living, breathing source of creativity for retreat guests.
Guests of our creative retreats are encouraged to connect with nature and incorporate the flowers into their projects. Whether it’s through floral arrangements for our special evening suppers or styling/ photography, the flower gardens provide a natural canvas for creativity. It’s this unique blend of art, nature, and creativity that makes Court House Farm a perfect place to escape, recharge, and unleash your artistic potential.
Pick Your Own & Afternoon Tea: A Fun-Filled Summer Offering
We’ve had so much fun during our Pick Your Own days in the past—seeing visitors of all ages wander through our gardens, laughter in the air as they picked their own beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers. From the sweet scent of sweet peas in spring to the vibrant display of roses and dahlias in late summer, our gardens were a colourful playground for flower enthusiasts.
While we’re offering fewer Pick Your Own days this year, we’re still excited to welcome visitors to enjoy this charming experience. On select days, you can wander through the cut flower gardens, hand-picking your own bouquet of seasonal blooms for just £39.00 per bucket. Whether it’s handfuls of fragrant sweet peas or a bundle of vibrant dahlias, you’ll find something beautiful to take home.
