WORKSHOP: British Cut-Flowers arrangement with The Somerset Cut Flower Garden, Sunday 5th May

55.00

As part of our Home & Garden weekend we have a series of workshops available to book here at Court House Farm.

SUNDAY 5TH MAY 10.30-12.30 please arrive at 10.15

Join Florist and Flower grower Karen Hughes to create your own floral table arrangement with a spring theme. All the flowers will come from Karen’s The Somerset cut flower garden and other local growers- making this a celebration of British grown flowers and foliage. You’ll be arranging your own design floral arrangement in a vessel provided, learning the art of selecting your stems, conditioning and arranging from Karen.
All materials are provided, including the flowers and the vessel. You may want to come along with a pinny and a pair of gardening gloves as you will be handling chicken wire.

In the beautiful surrounding of Court House Farm and Gardens, come join us to enjoy a few hours of beautiful creativity with flowers and talk to Karen about her flower growing passion.

The Somerset Cut Flower Garden is tucked away on a south-facing hillside in the Quantock Hills between Taunton and Bridgwater. Here they have created a garden for lovers of colour, texture, foliage and scent provided by the lovely flowers and shrubs that are grown.

Being in Somerset means that their plants and flowers will have travelled just a few miles to reach you, keeping the flower miles down to a minimum. ‘We are keen to keep our environmental footprint as small as we can so we don’t use chemicals and we harvest water as much as we can’

Karen who is also known as @FloraSomerset, is the principal grower - she spent many years working in a local authority parks and leisure department creating exciting natural children’s play areas, planning green spaces for the future including allotments and organising large scale outdoor events. She graduated longer ago than its polite to mention, with an honours degree in economic development and environmental issues. More recently she has studied with the National Design Academy attaining Diplomas in interior design and also soft furnishings. Now she has turned a lifelong hobby into a business and hopes to inspire others to enjoy their gardens as much as she does.
